Strawberry Luna
In June of 2022, I visited my childhood beach with my family at Topsail Island, NC. I had not planned to take photos as I was seeing family I had not seen since the start of the pandemic.
However, I was delighted to find that the Strawberry Moon aligned with our beach house and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play with the moon!
The weather report was not looking promising but at blue hour, just after the sunset, the wind had completely stopped, making a normally tricky foreground focus stack with moving grasses nice and easy!
However, with the passing of the wind meant the mosquitoes who are normally kept at bay, came out in full force! My father-in-law and husband stuck with me despite all of us getting eaten alive by mosquitoes while we waited for the moon to rise!
The clouds obscured the first 45 minutes of the moon rise except for a small fiery red sliver that poked out for about 30 seconds. This moon was taken around 9:45pm when the moon finally popped out in full, about 35 minutes after moon rise.
All in all, I am quite pleased with how this turned out, considering the potential obstacles. Looking forward to playing with more moonscapes!
