Serenity
Serenity - the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled
Serenity is what this image evokes for me. Maybe because it brings me back to that peaceful, quiet lake and to a sense of immediate calm.
This photo almost did not happen. The weather was supposed to be in the low 50’s for the time of year but as the week drew near, little snow flakes began appearing in my weather feed. Nooooooooo- was my response. We learned that the canoes are pulled once the weather turns and my heart fell. And sure enough, the snow came, falling on our first day. However- we did not let it slow us down and to my delight, there were a couple of canoes left for brave souls who didn’t mind braving the cold and snow!
My mom, Angela, and I, bundled up against the 22 degree weather, settled into the canoe, marveling at the color of the water (yes it really is that blue!) and glided out over the nearly silent lake while flecks of snow drifted down over us.
When I need a sense of peace and calm, this is where my mind will return.
