Iceland- A Journey Around the Ring Road, Part 5: The Northern Lights

As we traveled around Iceland, we kept hoping to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We diligently checked the aurora forecast multiple times a day (yes, Iceland has a national aurora forecast). By day 9, we were beginning to lose hope. After a long day of driving, we climbed into bed early. Fast asleep, we heard the most timid knock on our door, sometime around 11pm. Surely this person was lost. The timid knock persisted. Grumpily, we climbed out of bed and opened our door to see the entire inn running out the door! I grabbed my camera and tripod, following suit.

What a show! The lights danced across the sky. Over here-no over there, wait, it is going across the whole sky!!! It was a sight to behold and one I will never forget. After about an hour, I could no longer feel my fingers. We headed back inside where we were able to crawl into bed and watch from our window until we fell asleep. It was a sight to behold and one I will never forget. Thank you timid knocker!!!

When purchasing photos, please note that Metal Prints are highly recommended. They are printed on a sheet of aluminum, provide a high-gloss, brilliant finish and don't need to be framed! Metal prints are located under wall art (not paper prints) when purchasing photos.
